WIZARD BANE™
Wizard Bane is almost ready for production.
What is Wizard Bane?
Wizard Bane is a turn based strategy role playing game set in its own magical fantasy world.
FACTIONS
There are three main factions in Wizard Bane, with an additional eight noble houses/kingdoms with their own agendas and perks for characters who are part of those houses. The three main factions are the Wizard Council, The New Dawn, and the Heretic Vampire Clan.
The New Dawn is a growing movement which wants to abolish all magic. The Wizard Council is attempting to unite the houses into a multi kingdom coalition to bring stability to the world. While the Heretic Vampire Clan views The New Dawn as a tool which if bent to their will can be used to build an empire of darkness that will last for millennia.
What Is The Objective When Playing Wizard Bane?
The object of Wizard Bane is to win the scenario. What’s the scenario? Whatever you make it to be! Use your imagination. Wizard Bane is a role playing game.
For instance, your team of characters is a scouting party and has noticed a large force moving in the direction of your home city. You must warn your city! The other player, who controls the opposing team of characters, is in your way. Their patrol, which has twice as many characters on the board as you, has intercepted your scouting party. To win this scenario at least one of your characters must make it across the board within a certain amount of turns.
Or you could play the classic King of the Hill scenario. Two, or more, sides are battling to control a certain point on the map. This hex must be occupied for a certain amount of turns. Let the free for all begin!
Or you and the other players battle it out until only one team is left standing.
The game plays similar to how BattleTech does with movement and combat phases. The game uses two six sided dice for the rolls. Movement is hex based. The game board has modular elements. Players can create their own custom map for the scenario they've come up with.
A character's stats determine how much damage a weapon/magic spell does. Wizard Bane, being a fantasy/rpg game, includes several different races each with their own bonuses and penalties.
In Wizard Bane the "standard" amount of characters per player is five, if players want the game session to last at most a few hours. But the amount really depends on the scenario you create for the session of game play and the rules you create for the scenario. There are no game play session leaders, (Dungeon Masters for example) in Wizard Bane. You come up with a scenerio you want to play and follow the core rule book for playing the game. Campaign/scenario books will also be released so players can interact with the rich fantasy world of Wizard Bane and follow the main story.
After the battle/scenario is over your characters may level up and add traits to enhance their abilities, if they survive. What's the next adventure your character(s) will face? What house will you join? Will you serve the light, help the darkness prevail, or try to be neutral in the coming war?
More information coming soon!
